Malodor (No Flush Urinal)

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) accelerate sanitation coverage in rural and urban areas. Stakeholders and people from all sections of society have welcomed it as a major step to achieve a healthy and hygienic environment for the citizens of India. This is retrofit Malodor technology that gets fitted at the base of the urinal bowl. It consists of an inlet and outlet cartridge through which urine passes and seals the outlet once the urine is drained out. The technology converts conventional urinal into Malodor. No need to remove the old urinal bowl.

Since urine is mostly water, unlike poo it does not require extra water for its regular smooth flow into the main sewer line. This originates the idea of checking the odor by some mechanical means, resulting in the development of Waterless or NO Flush Urinals. Malodor No Flush Urinal design consists of a Membrane Trap, which acts as a One Way Valve and blocks the exit of odorous gases from Urinal holes while allowing a free flow path for Urine from Urinal Pan to Drain Pipe.

Advantages:-

  • Malodors do not require a constant source of water

  • Can be built and repaired with locally available materials

  • Malodors produce fewer odours than urinals with water flush and also have no problems with urinal cakes (odour and urinal cakes occur when urine is mixed with water)

  • Malodors contribute to water saving at the greatest possible degree

  • Surface water and aquifers are protected from nutrients and pharmaceuticals if the urine is collected separately

Cleaning Precautions:

  • Malodor No Flush Urinal itself does not have any type of cleaning requirement

  • However regular cleaning of Urinal Pan is required on daily basis

  • Do not use acid or hot water while cleaning the Urinal Pan

  • Do not insert brush or any other object inside No Flush Urinal holes

  • Use only good quality & mild cleaning agent for cleaning of Urinal Pan
